PODScast

Capitalizing on Data as an Asset

Join us for our first PODScast on “Capitalizing On Data As An Asset” with Todd Patterson, Buckeye and PODS Board President, William Mojica, NiSource and Jeff Wiese, former PHMSA Administrator. They will focus on the critical importance of really knowing your assets, as well as what's around them, and knowing what you know and what you don't. Asset knowledge is essential to confident compliance, enterprise risk management, and serves as the base for a modern operator’s management systems. As most significant incidents have shown, asset knowledge is paramount to safe operations.

We will address not only the importance of holistic asset knowledge, but also how these two operators have approached it. We also discuss concepts surrounding treating data required for safe operations as a true asset useful in driving operational rigor, risk informed decision making, and continuous improvement and quality. We will cover the importance of data ownership and governance to ensure existing problems do not recur after being fixed. Lastly, we cover ideas on how to opportunistically capture missing data elements using field personnel, recognizing future data needs, and developing repeatable practices for capturing information.

Asset Knowledge Management can feel like a herculean effort for most companies, but small steps can be essential in helping to drive essential enhancements within our business. Join us to learn how you can quantify this risk to support needed system improvements…bring an open mind, and related questions.
